Baby eczema can really affect the way your child looks and feels. Eczema is a skin irritation that causes the skin to be itchy, scaly and red. It often is accompanied with swelling and puss-filled bumps.
There is no decided cause for eczema. Some researchers believe the cause is because of genetics. Some people are more prone to eczema than others. Others feel that the cause could be allergies or environmental elements.
Eczema is treatable, however. While the symptoms may not disappear entirely, you can get prescribed medicated bath and body lotions to help with eczema. Purchasing medicated bath and body lotions can help your baby have softer, less irritated skin.
Parents are also able to make the condition better for their baby. They can start by keeping their baby’s fingernails trimmed. Short nails will give your chance less chance to cause more skin irritation while they itch their skin.
Another way to help is by bathing children every other day. Bathing child everyday can over-dry your child’s already irritated skin. Use a sensitive bath and body soap that is free of harmful chemicals.
Be careful when drying off baby. Don’t rub baby with towel. Instead, pat your baby dry. It is a lot kinder to your baby’s skin.
Watch your baby. If you notice the skin condition gets worse try to think of reasons that could have triggered the worse condition. Look for those triggers that might make the eczema worse for your baby.
Use un-scented, allergy-free, sensitive laundry detergent. Since laundry detergent often has harsh chemicals in it, it can make a baby’s skin condition much worse. Use sensitive laundry detergent that has fewer chemicals and more natural, organic products that are safer to use on a baby.
