Ayurveda, unfortunately in India, is not regularized and controlled by Health Ministry. That is why, you may come across many quacks practicing baseless remedies and therapies under the name of Ayurveda. Internationally, Ayurveda has been tarnished as merely a heavy metal products’ science, which is certainly not the truth. Ayurveda is a well known scientifically proven science that works on the root causes of the disease and not just treating the signs and symptoms.

Regular consumption of nutritional food, adequate sleep, and regular exercise will help in controlling diabetes. Along with the help of above mentioned herbs, you need to follow a proper diet. This diet will control the level of sugar in the blood stream.

Other different types of cures for asthma include alternative treatments like Ayurveda and Homeopathy. Ayurvedic medicines are natural herbal medicines that work to clear the blocked and inflamed air passages to either prevent another asthmatic attack or cure it. Ayurvedic medicines include Holy Basil (Tulsi) that keeps the respiratory passage healthy and is also an anti- inflammatory medicine. Homeopathy supports the body’s healing mechanism with medicines that are prepared especially according to a person’s body structure and his personal medical history.

There are home remedies which are used as a cure for asthma. These include honey, turmeric and garlic. A cup of warm milk with turmeric helps at night. Steaming ginger tea with minced garlic taken twice a day as also steam inhalation with caraway seeds and boiling water are all good home remedies for asthma.
Yet other different types of cures for asthma that do not have any side effects are breathing exercises like Pranayama and Buteyko.

Pranayama is used to control cultivate and modify the flow of air into the body. There are three phases in Pranayama. They are the inhalation, retention and the exhalation. Buteyko is a Russian method of breathing exercise which prevents asthmatic attacks, reduces the symptoms of allergy, enables the patient to sleep well and also eliminate the dependency on asthma medications.

Oral medications include Maharasnadi decoction, Triphala Guggulu, Yograj Guggulu and Ashwagandharishta. Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) and Guggulu (Commiphora mukul) compounds are given for prolonged periods. Multiple herbal compounds containing Guggulu are available, which are used according to the presenting symptoms and the staging of the disease as done by the Ayurvedic practitioner.

It is advisable to avoid very sour, salty and cold (refrigerated) food products, as also fermented products. Using tolerable amounts of ginger and garlic in the daily diet is helpful. Some yogic asanas have been found to be useful in arthritis, and may be performed regularly under the supervision and advice of an expert in this field.

Ayurvedic herbal medicines can be safely used as an additional therapy to the modern treatment of different types of cancer. Treatment is three-pronged:- (i) reducing the tumor size (ii) preventing or stopping the spread of tumor cells via the blood and lymph ducts and (iii) directly treating the affected tissues. This treatment also reduces the side-effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Modern medicine is able to treat or control a majority of the cancers seen nowadays, however, a complete cure may not be possible in a significant percentage of those affected; and side-effects of therapy, and recurrence, are major problems.
