Sinusitis is a condition in which there is an infection of the paranasal sinuses. It may be the due to a bacterial infection, fungal infection, viral allergy or it can be an autoimmune issue. Recently it has been classified as rhinosinusitis. It is based on the theory that describes that inflammation of sinuses is a result of inflammation of nose as well.

If using antibiotics are not helping with your sinusitis, then take a look at your diet. The main culprits that may be causing you to have sinus are milk, spicy food, citrus, wheat and cheese. Eliminate them from your diet for a few days to see if it help to relieve your sinus infection.

Grapefruit seed extract can eliminate your sinusistis after taking a couple of days. It is advised to not take them early morning with empty stomach. Always have them after eating something. Be cautious about the drops, they taste terrible.
Another remedy is, try to drink apple cider vinegar as much as you can. It helps in thinning the mucus.
Blow out the mucus as much as you can for several times a day. It helps in clearing the sinus and you can breathe normal. Another way is to shower with hot water spray on your mouth especially at forehead and nose. It will wet your sinuses and also helpful in normal breathing.
“Oil Pulling” is also an effective remedy. It is tremendous remedy from India and sinus congestion is lightened within 10-15 minutes.
Inhale steam vapors at regular intervals. This is the most simple and effect remedy for sinus infection. The procedure is that, bow your head on hot steam water for some time and inhale steam vapors. Repeat this procedure for 2-3 minutes daily for many times. It thins the thick mucus which helps in draining.
Garlic has the property of anti- bacterial and anti-fungal. Usage of garlic is very effective during sinus infections because this infection is also bacterial and either fungal.
Chopped garlic can also be used for steam purpose. Put some chopped garlic in hot water and take steam for 2-3 minutes daily for several times.
Adopting a home remedy may save you from going to doctor, but these remedies are only effective if you have mild and recurrent attack. If your symptoms remain even after adopting these remedies then it is advised to seek a consultation with your physician.
