To put it in simple words, Eczema is a chronic skin disorder or disease which has put many people into the most embarrassing situations in their life. To start with, it causes skin irritation and then gradually the skin becomes rough, scaly and itchy there by giving the victim a hell of time. If one goes onto classify the types Eczema, the most common one to surface out will be Atopic Eczema, which is also similar to some kind of skin allergies.

You might be wondering how the disease of Eczema gets associated with embarrassment. The skin, during this suffering phase causes irritation and when the victims cannot stop themselves from continuously itching the affected area, the skin loose out its normal color and appears brown or red. Sometimes it varies greatly from the normal skin tone and appears too light or extremely dark. The affected spot also gets quick thick than the normal areas.

Diagnosing Eczema is not much of a problem for the doctors and they are immediately able to diagnose the disease upon visual examination. Some of the doctors even go to the extent of reviewing family history to check if the disease is hereditary. The patient is also requested to go for allergy testing. The most common tests that patient undergoes for the diagnosis of Eczema are scraping tests and blood tests.

You will be quite taken aback by the recent reports of the National Institutes for Health that almost 15 millions people in America are the poor victims of this skin ailment. You will be further amazed to know that out of that almost ten to twenty percent are toddlers. However, amongst the toddlers, most of them recover from the disease during 5 and 15 years of age. Some form of Eczema will tend to linger on for the rest of their life.

There are some kinds of precautionary measures with which you can adjust yourself, to lessen the pain, a recurring symptom of Eczema. The first and foremost measure you can take care of is applying lotions and creams which are completely composed of natural components. Anti-histaminic oral drugs sometimes bring great relief to those who are suffering from the acute Eczema pain. Treatment of Eczema is also done by the consumption of some oral pills made of herbal ingredients. Avoiding stress and making yourself available for deep relaxations is another way of getting relief from this painful disease. Cleaning your clothes and bed-spreads at frequent intervals is very important as these will prevent your skin from reacting to the dust and dirt around.

The disease of Eczema has no permanent cure but can be considerably brought under control by means of proper medication as well as topical creams and lotions.
