Bichon Frise Shitzu Dogs: Designer Puppies For The Family

May dog owners are againts cross breeding of dogs because they want to preserve the pedigree of all dog breeds but regardless of these strong objections, many dog breeders continue to mate and mix breeds canines of various type with the main purpose of knowing what are the desirable traits tha these hybrids will produce. Bichon Frise Shitzu puppies are good example of such designer puppies or designer hybrids.

Produced from the cross breeding of a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu, Bichon Shitzu puppies possess characteristics from both breeds.

White coats or light-colored coats are the usual color of most bichon shitzus. Some puppies would have a slightly protruding snout of a Bichon Frise while possessing the long-haired coat of a Shitzu. Other puppies would have the flat face of the Shitzu while possessing the fluffy powder puff coat of the Bichon. Because they are very light shedders, Bichon Frise Shitzus are perfect pets for individuals suffering from hay fevers and other allergies. However, you would need to give them regular grooming in order to get rid of excess fur, mats or tangles. Because their hair grows long quite fast, you would need to give them a trim or get the services of a professional groomer.

Since both the Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu are good-natured, you can expect their hybrids to have a cheerful and playful disposition. One problem you may encountered with these hybird is separation anxiety since these puppies can become quite close to its owners and if you are away alot because of work, this can be hard. Being also stubborn, a Bichon Shitzu hybrid may be challenging to house break.

Bichon Shitzus have anatomical differences which make them genetically superior over their parents. For one, these hybrids have longer noses and tear ducts, so that teary, watery eyes – which are a problem with Bichons – are eliminated. Unlike Bichon, these designer puppies are also less prone to develop skin problems.

If you are interested in having a Bichon Shitzu for a pet, buy puppies only from reputable breeders. You can find these breeders via online directories of leading kennel clubs, hybrid associations, and animal welfare groups. These breeders will provide you with the necessary documentation as proof that the puppy you are getting is a true designer dog.

Don’t be put off by high-handed “purists” about hybrid dogs like Bichon Shitzu puppies being inferior to purebreds. If you’ve fallen in love with a puppy, pedigree really shouldn’t matter.
