Before you go and make a trip to the nearest drug store near you ask for asthma medication, you must first need to have a clear idea of what you are treating, a clear idea of what asthma is.

Asthma is the constant problem and inflammation of the respiratory organs. Symptoms associated with asthma include long periods of shortness of breath, tightening of the chest during prolonged physical activity, wheezing, and many more. Experts say that one of the main causes of asthma is the exposure of the body to too much allergen (pollen, dust, any small, hardly visible particles that are light enough to be carried by the wind). There are also those who are born with week, asthmatic’s lungs. Too much exercise, prolong physical activity, and emotional stress can trigger asthma attacks.

Now, if you want your asthma to be treated, the best thing to do is to consult a friendly doctor you can trust. Your doctor can help you out and work with you in treating your asthma, not to mention he can prescribe medication. You must first need to know and to decide what your treatment goals are and you doctor will study them and will provide you with the steps and necessary medication on how to control your asthma. OF course, when given a medicine, you should take it religiously.

About the medication for asthma, there are basically two primary classifications for asthma medicine. There is what you call medicines designed for Long-term asthma control and the quick-relief asthma medicine. For the mild and early signs of asthma, you can have your doctor prescribe you quick-relief asthma medicine, or you get one yourself since most medicine in this category are available over the counter. Once you take immediate relief medicine, you can feel and experience the relief of the symptoms. You will know that the medicine is working right within minutes. On the other hand, Long-term asthma control medicine must be taking on a regular basis depending on your prescription or on how often your doctor wants you to take it. Usually taken daily, long-term medicine for asthma tends to prevent the symptoms of asthma and lessens the chances of you getting an asthma attack. People who suffer from recurring and very persistent asthma need to take long-term medicines.

As studies have proven, it is much easier to treat asthma is medication is used upon the first occurrence of its symptoms. When you first experience tightening of the chest and difficulty in breathing while doing routine exercises, you should consult a doctor or an expert and ask for rescue or quick relief medicine to control and take care of asthma before it even gets worse.

Still, the best treatment of asthma can be achieved by self commitment with the help of your doctor. An action plan on what medicine to take and what steps should be done daily (avoiding dusty areas or get yourself away from allergens). With the right medicine and by following your doctor’s advice, you can say goodbye to asthma at any given day.
